Description

St. John Vianney High School has an opportunity for a Staff Accountant. Starting compensation for this position is $50,000-$65,000. This position includes a generous benefits package with medical, dental, vision, and retirement plan; paid vacation; and tuition assistance for qualifying children. Vianney’s campus is centrally located near I-44 and South Kirkwood Road.

To be successful in this role, you must have an ability to work independently to complete the day-to-day accounting of a non-profit organization. The primary areas of responsibility for this position are accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, reconciliation for bank accounts and investment accounts, and journal entries.  This position reports to the Director of Finance & Operations.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Process all invoices and check requests by charging to the correct account, preparing checks, and maintaining all financial records.
  • Receive all monies related to campus activities, verify count of all and prepare bank deposit, record transactions, and perform bank run.
  • Process payroll and submit to payroll service twice monthly. Submit necessary information for employee benefits, payroll deductions, and retirement journal entries.
  • Maintain all employee records for payroll.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Reconcile investment accounts per general ledger to monthly statements.
  • Manage accounting for allocation of patron scholarships and distribution of earnings. from investments to patron scholarships.
  • Receive and verify cash receipts.
  • Monitor use of business office credit card and account for all credit card receipts.
  • Prepare various monthly and year end close entries.
  • Respond to annual audit requests.
  • Prepare annual 1099s.
  • Prepare and disburse financial information/reports as needed.
  • Maintain Notary status.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required. A degree in business, finance or accounting preferred.
  • 2+ years of financial or accounting management
  • Experience with non-profit, fund accounting preferred
