Job Summary
St. John Vianney High School seeks a School Counselor to begin the 2026-27 school year. Counselor positions at Vianney support all students and approach their students with an expectation of developing the whole person over the four years of high school. This position takes a proactive approach to supporting students and has multiple responsibilities within the school.
 
 
Duties/Responsibilities
  • Must be able to serve the students, staff/faculty and families in a positive, friendly, and efficient manner.
  • Work with students and families in support of academic, social/emotional, and spiritual growth.
  • Implement assessments and protocols in support of mental health crisis situations.
  • Track all grades and progress for students and develop individual support helping each student succeed.
  • Identify causes of learning breakdowns/lack of progress for individual students.
  • Coordinate with learning consultants to support students with learning profiles.
  • Partner with teachers for fostering student success (behavior management, test administration, project help, studying help, etc).
  • Maintain industry knowledge in the area of school counseling, wellbeing, and academic requirements for post-grad pathways.
  • Strong knowledge base in college and post-secondary counseling.
  • Maintain a current list of tutoring opportunities and licensed counselors for students/families.
 
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Be highly organized and efficient in a high energy and fast paced environment.
  • Ability to present to large groups of students and families, including teaching classroom lessons on a variety of topics.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel).
  • Intermediate knowledge of GSuite (Google Docs, Sheets, Forms, Drive).
  • Demonstrated technology skills with various computer programs including Maia Learning, Canvas, Blackbaud, and Grade Guardian.
  • Ability to work with students, parents, teachers, administrators, and support staff all in support of the Vianney mission.
  • Positivity in collaborating with the entire school to foster student success.
 
Education/Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Preferred master's degree in School Counseling
