St. John Vianney High School is seeking a dependable, service-oriented Day Porter to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming campus for students, educators, families, and visitors. This position plays an important role in the daily life of the school by responding to immediate needs, supporting cafeteria transitions, maintaining high-traffic spaces, and assisting with minor facility needs.

Position Summary

The Day Porter helps ensure that the campus remains safe, functional, clean and presentable throughout active school hours. The position manages real-time cleanups, restocks supplies, cleans high-traffic common spaces, and assists staff with daily operational support.

Key Responsibilities

• Common Area & High-Touch Maintenance: Regularly wipe down high-touch surfaces (door handles, handrails, light switches, water fountains) to limit germ spread. Keep hallways, main entryways, and lobbies clear of litter and hazards.
• Cafeteria & Lunch Support: Clean spills, wipe lunch tables, and empty trash and recycling containers rapidly during meal shifts to prepare spaces for successive lunch periods.
• Restroom Monitoring: Conduct periodic checks on all main restrooms. Spot-clean counters and mirrors, mop floors, and restock soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
• Rapid Response: Serve as primary responder for accidental spills, broken glass, or urgent custodial requests submitted by faculty. Handle minor fixes like unstopping sinks or toilets, or reporting major structural/plumbing issues to maintenance crews.
• Common Area Reset After Events: Cleaning and resetting spaces used the night before for events.

Qualifications & Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• 1+ years of experience in custodial, janitorial, or day porter roles (preferably in a school or commercial setting).
• Ability to pass a mandatory background check .
• Able to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 50 lbs, and operate standard cleaning equipment.
• Strong interpersonal skills to interact professionally with students, staff, and visitors.

Expected hours of work would be 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.  Some flexibility could be acceptable.
